Deburring the inside and outside of the pipe to be flamed. If the pipe is damaged, cut the end of the pipe. The brass, copper and aluminum are heated to a dark red color and then cooled quickly in cold water. Remove the two clamping screws and open the flaring tool. Select a hole on the flaring rod that matches the diameter of the tube, and place the tube on the just prepared end extending over the top of the rod to the thickness of the shoulder of the adapter plug-in. Tighten the clamp screw to secure the pipe firmly. Insert the guide of the correctly sized adapter into the pipe. Attach the yoke to the flaring rod and center the adapter. Push the cone down until the shoulder of the adapter rests against the flaring rod. This knocks on the end of the tubing. Next, back the cone enough to remove the adapter. After removing the adapter, push the cone directly into the bell end of the tube. This folds the pipe itself into a precise double bell without breaking or splitting the pipe. To prevent the bell wall from thinning, do not over tighten.
