Surface roughness can be less than 5 RMS when machined with SCND* molds and measured with a profilometer. When the diameter exceeds 0.040″, a polycrystalline die for surface machining will present a rougher surface than a natural diamond die. When the diameter exceeds 0.100″, the surface will be rougher due to the use of a carbide die for drawing .
