Because, when the temperature of the medium changes, the measured medium needs to heat the casing first, and then the casing heats the temperature measuring element, so the temperature reflected by the temperature measuring element is often “later” than the actual change for a period of time, and may even be lower than the actual temperature due to the rapid change of the actual temperature. The thicker the protective casing wall, the greater the heat transfer lag. Therefore, the temperature measuring element must be in good contact with the protective casing.
